Landing - Multimedia Project

Chinese overseas purchasing agents are individuals who buy goods and ship them directly to clients in China, avoiding import taxes. High tuition and living expenses make this a perfect informal job for Chinese nationals studying in the United States. The work is lucrative, but chaotic and even risky; if Chinese officials seize a package, it is the purchasing agent who will pay the fines and tariffs.

This project Landing focuses on the stories of Jiajie Si and Tru Wang, two Chinese overseas purchasing agents live in Washington D.C. area, telling about why they become the purchasing agents and how they do this business during the whole process. Also, how to overcome the homesickness and loneliness is a big problem of Chinese students who study in the United States. Landing in the United States and Landing a job in the United States. Besides, the short film brings us to China, includes the part of Chinese customer, Xinyi Chen, talking about her experience of buying products from these purchasing agents.
